The theme for the conference was about identifying Opportunities in our backyard and conference attendees were encouraged to hang (paper cut out) items of clothing with messages of what they hope for in their local communities (backyards) for people with disabilities. The aim of the conference was to encourage thinking around new and innovative ways people with disabilities can be supported in their local communities and with assistance through the NDIS.
The conference also gave QDN members and staff the opportunity to meet and connect with people across the state and to encourage QDN membership so people can be informed of any important issues or hot topics arising for people with disability.
In the afternoon at all the events attendees got to hear local speakers talk about topics including cultural belonging and honouring diversity as well as speakers exploring workforce capability from a a local perspective with the introduction of the NDIS.
