Open Office - Morning Teas.

Every two months, on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, starting on the 9th of September 2009. Members are invited to come to the QDN office, at Suite 11, 7 O'Connell Terrace, Bowen Hills, for morning tea.

The reason for holding 'Open Office - Morning Teas' is to give members a chance to:

  • Meet each other;
  • Discuss issues;
  • Share ideas; and
  • Meet the staff and Management Committee

Because QDN has no funding for this gathering, you are asked to use public transport or make you own way to and from the office, and to bring a plate of food to share. If using public transport is not possible for you, please call QDN on 3252 8566 to arrange other options.

The first 'Open Office - Morning Tea' will be held on;

  • Date: Wednesday 9th September 2009
  • From: 10am to 11.30am

QDN is assisting Queensland Advocacy Inc (QAI) with a human rights project for people with disability. This project aims to tell you about your human rights. The project also aims to find out if your human rights are being respected.

QAI want to find out if the human rights of people with disability in Queensland are being respected.

If you are interested in being involved in this project, please read the attached flyer or contact Melinda Ewin on 3236 1122 or email melinda@qai.org.au

Self Managed Services — Informal Get Together.

QDN is in the planning stages of holding an informal get-together for people with disabilities who are funded by DSQ for personal care support and choose to manage their own funding. QDN is looking for expressions of interest. The initial meeting will just be an informal discussion which will hopefully lead to a sort of “information pack” for people with disability to access in the future so 'we don't keep reinventing the wheel'.

At this stage, QDN is just looking for expressions of interest from people who already manage their own funding. Please contact QDN if you are interested in participating. For members who do not manage their own funding but may be interested in doing so, please contact QDN if you would be interested in a larger more informational get-together in the future.

Please contact QDN on 1300 363 783. The 1300 number is just the cost of a local call.

QDN Quality Project.

Hello friends, members and people with a disability!

I have been contracted by QDN (Queenslanders with Disability Network) to identify people with a disability who receive a (state-funded) disability service, to take part in a research project (follow this link to a PDF file listing the details) about their services and the Quality system. One method is through a questionnaire that takes about 20 minutes to complete.

I am also traveling around Queensland to speak with people with a disability; contact me to see when or if I will be in your area.

Here is an opportunity for people with disabilities to be involved and have more control over the supports they receive, therefore ensuring quality services.

Please take a look at the attached flyer and get in touch with me if you are interested in a follow-up phone call or visit.

The best way to contact me at present is by emailing me or by leaving a message with QDN on 1300 363 783. I will endeavour to get back to you as soon as I can.

Please note that this project is directly targeting people with a disability; if you are a parent of a person with a disability receiving a service, please contact Anita Speed at CRU on 38701022.

If you know of someone who meets the criteria for this project please pass this on.

When you respond to this email, please type “Quality” and your location in the subject line.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Oh and by the way, for every qualifying person who takes part in the questionnaire, I offer you a $20 because I value your time, effort and comments!

Cheers
