QDN Priorities.

Background:

Since inception, in 1998-99, QDN has run a series of statewide gatherings attended by people with disability from all over Queensland and representing a wide range of disabilities. During those events, a number of issues were identified as our core immediate priorities.

These drive our work, and assists us to decide where to place our resources and direct our energy.

Queenslanders with Disability Network (QDN) has the issues below as our current priorities (as identified by participants at our last gathering):

  • Housing (and support);
  • Income and Employment;
  • Getting Around (access, transport, building, built environment);
  • People with Disability as Community Members with Recreational, Cultural, Spiritual and Sexual Lives;
  • Access to Information and Education.

In due course we will post documentation and issues papers to support these topics.

We also persue immediate and breaking issues such as the revisions to the Disability Services Act.
